Logo Meaning
Our logo is made up of two instantly recognizable symbols: the iconic four-pane Windows window and Tux, the Linux penguin. The penguin leans out of the lower-left corner of the window, its body tilted toward the bottom-left and its head tilted toward the center of the window — as if peeking out of the window, or resting steadily against it.
This pose is meant to convey one single message: Linux runs on Windows. The four-pane window stands for the host Windows, and the penguin stands for the Linux running inside it; the two do not replace each other, but nest together and work in concert. That is exactly what WSL Dashboard aims to do — let Windows and Linux coexist naturally on the same computer, and manage both through one simple, clear interface.
